Find Support in St. Louis
“First you get told you have lung cancer. And then you don’t have anybody or anything to help you. That’s pretty devastating. It feels like you’re the only one going through this.”
— Myrtle Chidester, LCC Co-Founder
A diagnosis of lung cancer is often heartbreaking to patients, as well as friends and loved ones. There is so much value in connecting with another person who has battled lung cancer, who understands your feelings, someone who can help guide you through what can be an overwhelming burden to bear alone.
In the St. Louis area, Lung Cancer Connection has partnered with the Cancer Support Community (formerly the Wellness Community) of Greater St. Louis to underwrite multiple monthly lung cancer support groups. The goal of the groups is to help meet patients' emotional challenges, as well as answer their concerns related to medical treatments. Each meeting is facilitated by both a licensed clinical social worker and an oncology nurse.
The Lung Cancer Monthly Group meets on the first Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Cancer Support Community: 1058 Old Des Peres Road, St. Louis, MO 63131.
Another support group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p at Christian Hospital: 11133 Dunn Road, St. Louis, MO 63136 Room 2100.
Both groups offer free attendance and are open to lung cancer patients and caretakers. No registration is required. For more information call: 314-238-2000
